When we talk about writers and Harlem, the Harlem Renaissance comes to mind because of the many fascinating writers from that period such as Louis Thompson Patterson, Nella Larsen, Albert Coombs Barnes, and Gwendolyn Brooks. However, we must also not forget to celebrate the other great writers that walked the streets of Harlem like Julia de Burgos, Solomon Libin, Arthur Miller, and Henry Roth. Our Famous Harlem Writers Lesson Planswill introduce the students to these important individuals. The lessons are available for elementary school, middle school and high school students. We also have a supplemental lesson available to help reinforce what the student has learned. The lesson consists of ten vocabulary words, ten fun facts on the topic and a word search puzzle.
