Harlem is home to some of the earliest and world-renowned educational institutions. Harlem is also fortunate to be the home of some of the greatest educators and many still live here today. Our Harlem Education Lesson Planswill teach students about the origins Columbia University, Manhattan School of Music, City College of New York, and P.S. 43 the first free school. We also pay homage to Harlem’s great educators like John Henry Clarke, Dr. Ben, James Weldon Johnson, Dorothy Height, and Hallie Queen Brown to just name a few . The lessons are available for elementary school, middle school and high school students. We also have a supplemental lesson available to help reinforce what the student has learned. The lesson consists of ten vocabulary words, ten fun facts on the topic and a word search puzzle.
